Just like so many of us, my story is not one of huge tragedy, but rather a series of choices that lead me along a path of continuous and ever increasing stressful demands which left me unhealthy, anxious and on the edge of burnout. Something had to give... I turned to yoga and began my journey of letting go and surrendering control of all that was out of my control; which is everything, except the way we chose to react.
My choice to give up the rat-race lead me along a self-accepting path where I was able to truly listen to my heart and connect with my inner light. After spending some time in India, studying and connecting with the motherland, I have gained a huge respect for yoga and all that it can provide us. One of my teachers told me "Yoga is your toolbox for life". I contemplated this and explored what it meant to me. I now understand that yoga is not just about making shapes; it is about being connected to your inner light and saying goodnight to your ego. It is about being truly content and experiencing life in all its glory. It is about becoming aware of our humanity, which at its core, is compassionate and kind.
I completed my yoga teacher training at Himalaya Yoga Valley in Goa, studying traditional yoga asana (postures), anatomy, pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation, philosophy and teaching methodology. My schooling has been very traditional and has honored the source that is India. I will always be a student and continue to learn everyday, improving my knowledge with the aim to share this with my students. If I have the honor of being able to teach you, I hope that one day, you will want to become teacher too.
Just as India has given the gift of yoga to the world, I too would love to share this ancient practice. My classes, workshops and retreats focus on translating these eastern techniques to help sooth and equip us to live a better, more for filled life in the west.
And so the journey continues, I wish you well.
